The Annals of the Missouri Botanical Garden, published quarterly since 1914, contains peer-reviewed papers primarily devoted to systematic botany and evolution. The Annals reflect the global mission of the Garden, with contributing authors from the Americas, Africa, Europe, Asia, and Australasia.
This issue of the Annals is dedicated to the memory of Alwyn H. Gentry. The first section contains contributions by some of those scientists who knew him. An overview of his life is presented, including lists of his publications and students. Included is the transcript of the presentations given at the memorial service held in St. Louis August 20, 1993, closing with the eulogy by Peter H. Raven. This issue also contains the 42nd Annual Systematics Symposium.
