The pre-linnean work, Plantae selectae, was written in Latin by Christoph Jacob Trew, illustrated by the draftsman Georg Dionysus Ehret, with the printmaker Johann Jakob Haid. Its ten volumes feature fifty-six double-page plates as hand-colored etched engravings.
This is identified as Musa troglodytarum L., the Fei cultivar, by Musa specialist Markku Hakkinen.
